Description

As a CD Project Chemist, your main responsibilities will be to work on projects, conduct experimental work, draw conclusions from your findings, and contribute to the development of new or improved product formulations.

You will provide technical support for both new and existing products under the guidance of your supervisor. You will be reporting to the Technical Manager, based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.


Main Responsibilities

  • Able to work independently with some involvement from supervisor in executing experiments.
  • Daily discussions with supervisor to discuss work progress.
  • Organizes tasks logically to complete assigned experiments.
  • Records experimental output in a concise and effective manner.
  • Delivers PPG approved reports of projects.
  • Draws conclusions from work and pays attention to detail.
  • Detects anomalies in experimental parameters or results.
  • Provides technical support to other functions with guidance from supervisor.
  • Has basic knowledge of PPG and competitor product portfolio.
  • Maintains lab supplies and ensures basic equipment is functioning properly.
  • Understands and follows EHS processes relevant to the job.
  • Ensures all experimental work is fully recorded in appropriate lab documentation.
  • Works safely and contributes to maintaining high safety standards.
  • Provides technical support to other functions, especially sales and production.
  • Contributes ideas for lab work involving new product development, existing product improvement, formula cost reduction, and process/procedural improvement.

Qualifications

  • Graduate with Honours Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • 15 years of work experience in a technical role within the chemical or coatings industry.
  • Experience in project execution.
  • Basic knowledge of paint making, testing techniques, and color theory.
  • Understanding of paint manufacturing and production processes.
  • Familiarity with key formulating rules and principles.
  • Knowledge of major raw material suppliers and their technologies.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory and EHS processes and procedures.
