About the Position


Working under the supervision and guidance of the Research Program Manager the
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Assistant will work closely with the MEL Team at HQ, to support MEL activities including planning, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation in accordance with the work plans and the various strategic frameworks.

S/he will also provide administrative support in key areas in research program planning and implementation such as assisting in information gathering and systematizing of tasks required within the framework of the program, knowledge management, and program archives.

In addition, the MEL Assistant will contribute to communication activities including preparing meeting minutes, drafting reports, briefs, and other MEL communications materials for internal and external audiences.


  • Support the implementation of Result-Based Management standards and best practices at WorldFish including that of the CGIAR Performance and Results Management Framework.
  • Contribute to the development of monitoring, evaluation, and learning tools and products in collaboration with the MEL Team.
  • Keep track of MEL Team activities and progress against objectives, work plans, and KPIs whilst communicating and following up with the team on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for communication activities including preparing meeting minutes, drafting reports, briefs, and other MEL communications materials as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate and assist in organizing events/meetings and conducting necessary followups to ensure activities are completed as agreed upon.
  • Maintain filing systems and databases of MEL and research management documents.
  • Coordinate with the MEL Team and with other crossfunctional teams, arranging activities based on priorities and deadlines.
  • Assist the Research Program Manager in other functions, as required.

Requirements:

This job might be for you if you have the below
skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field: Social Sciences, Management, International Development, Natural Resource Development, Business Administration/Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum accepted: Undergraduate degree in the same areas with at least 2 additional years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years sound experience in Research/Project Management and/or Monitoring & Evaluation role.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and show a high level of general computer literacy, including data analytics and digital tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and present information to a high standard for reporting and stakeholder communication.
  • High level of proficiency in written and verbal English with strong writing and communication skills, including familiarity with writing reports and other management documents.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.

Desired Skills/Experiences

  • Experience working in the environment, agriculture, or natural resources sectors and within a diverse international team.
  • Experience with webbased management systems.
