Who You'll Work With:


  • You will be part of McKinsey's Client Service Risk function, whose mission is to enable McKinsey's client impact and innovation, while managing risks to the firm, our clients, and our people. Client Service Risk is a globally integrated team within the firm's wider network of functions, with team backgrounds including communications, consulting, government and law.
  • This role reports to the Director of Risk, Asia and will be based out of Asia.
  • McKinsey has strengthened its governance and compliance processes as part of its ambition to lead our industry. Towards this aim, the Client Service Risk advisors play an integrating role across the lifecycle of risk in the firm's operations, including client selection, management of scopes of work and responding to changes in operational circumstances, guided by the firm's risk framework (see Client Service Policies).

What You'll Do:


  • You will work as part of the firm's Risk function that advises McKinsey's Partners on how the firm can best serve its clients and conduct thought leadership while managing any associated risks.
  • As part of the opportunity, you will advise partners on how to manage potential risks in client engagements in Asia, guided by firm policies, develop briefing materials for and coordinate discussions by the Client Service Risk Committee, a Global Committee of firm leaders that advises on the most complex cases, on high risk engagements and lead risk assessments across individual offices in Asia to assess key risks and develop mitigation recommendations, with a focus on technology topics, including IT modernization and strategy to Agile, cloud, cybersecurity, Generative AI and digital transformation.
  • In order to do so effectively, you will partner closely with and integrate advice from across firm functions (including Communications, Finance, and Legal) and 'cells' (practices, offices, new delivery models) to provide counsel on multifaceted issues.
  • In addition, you will contribute to awareness efforts around risk policies and compliance processes, incident management, crisis response, and "after action" assessments and well as on global initiatives, such as policy reviews, as a member of our global Risk function.

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree, as well as demonstrable intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree, or professional impact
  • 4+ years of professional experience in risk management, government, communications, law, consulting, media, public policy, and/or public affairs
  • Excellent judgment and problemsolving skills, exceptional integrity, and distinctive interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work on complex, sensitive, timecritical issues and quickly get up to speed on new topics across industries and risk areas
  • Outstanding English in written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills, with strong personal presence and credibility
  • Ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trustbased, peercounselor relationships and quickly establishing credibility
  • Experience working on projects involving data processing, cloud computing and software development/delivery
  • Working knowledge and interest in building expertise in Legal, InfoSec/Cyber, Privacy and Compliance
