ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
This role is part of GBS Corporate Finance Team.

The primary responsibility of the role is to proactively manage the delivery of Group Management and Statutory Reporting information in line with the agreed service level agreements of our customers.

Group Management information will include financial information and scenarios required for budget and actuals.

This will include co-ordination of assumption and other data inputs, running the forecasting process activities, preparation and generation of financial information and quality review prior to releasing to the customer for approval.

The objective of this role is to enable the end market to meet their business objectives by providing quality financial reporting information and analysis support.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Ensure month end close activities, statutory and management financial reporting (actuals) are performed on time
  • Performs monthly analytical reviews and prepares meaningful commentaries to explain results
  • Prepares additional yearend financial information to meet the disclosure requirements of BAT's annual financial statements
  • Preparation of journal (JVU) for any adhoc request and balance sheet commentary on a monthly basis
  • Support end market finance and liaise with tax agents on monthly tax reporting activities (e.g., Sales tax / VAT and withholding tax)
  • Investigating and responding to adhoc queries/reporting relating to financial performance and analysis requests
  • Monitor GBS KPI and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure performance metrics are aligned with targets
  • Coordinate the delivery of annual external statutory audit exercise
  • Coordinate and ensure alignment and delivery of control navigator and internal controls related exercises
  • End Market functional

SPOC:
Point of contact for everyday activities which need end market to action on or clarification required by end market

  • End market Finance business partners: both located in the GBS CFOM team and at the end markets, collating, understanding and challenging the required inputs, and following up on remediation plans.
  • Other GBS teams: This role works closely with other local GBS Finance teams (including Planning & Reporting and Accounting Services) and will have opportunities to work in crossfunctional teams to focus on specific process improvement and/or analysis and insight
  • Advises in initiatives to standardize and improve processes, offering suggestions to the relevant leadership team to improve process compliance
  • Handle accounting policy and procedure inquiries and ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
  • Support SAP User Access Management Review
  • Maintain complete and accurate standard operating procedures and support control documentation requirements
  • Understand the functionality, interfaces, and interdependencies of the financial processes and systems; ensure the existence of adequate internal controls\
  • Perform Individual Performance reviews and development plans for the direct reports
  • Full optimization of SAP functionalities to improve time taken to close month end
  • Develop and assist in automating processes utilizing innovative technical and processing solutions, leveraging the tools at our disposal

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years of relevant financial experience or similar dynamic operating environment
  • Degree educated with professional accountancy qualification (i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA)
  • Understand the impact of the accounting process and practice (IFRS and group reporting guidelines). Good knowledge of Management Accounting techniques in relation to Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet
  • Understand the platforms and analyze reports, identify issues and challenges within reports functionalities and data
  • A thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, specifically SAP or ERP equivalent
  • Detailoriented, analytical, proactive, and can work under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Knowledgeable in identifying risks and in implementing controls
