About the role


Are you energized by a finance role that allows you to engage senior stakeholders and build highly effective business partnerships? If so, Financial Controller, ANZ role could be an excellent opportunity to explore.

As a Financial Controller for ANZ, you will use your finance expertise:

  • To manage all financial aspects of the month, end close process for the ANZ business.
  • To own Gross Sales (£308m) to Operating Profit (£87m) and act as a senior business partner in providing financial reporting information and counsel to the Area Finance Director and ANZ Executive team.
  • Ensuring the ANZ business complies with the internal / external financial control environment.
Role Responsibilities

This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Managing month end accounting cycle, consolidation and submission of actual results, and support forecasting, for Australia and New Zealand:
  • Manage Operating Expenditure and all reporting requirements (including Headcount Reporting).
  • Review / processing of Opex provisions, accruals, standard journals etc.
  • Manage Balance Sheet reconciliations and monitor and resolve ageing balances, liaising with BSC and LOC supply chain team where required.
  • Maintain PIR (Purchase Info Record) of all SKUs for both markets, with standard cost, repacking cost, Profit Release, Net Cost. Update for new SKU. Review against SAP / ICT each month end and post necessary adjustments / investigate and escalate as required, and provide commentary to FD.
  • Work closely with BSC on ICT month end, GRNI, Reval etc and ensure P&L reporting is accurate.
  • Work with Supply Chain on Short Dated and Obsolete Stock reporting / forecasting.
  • Analysis of Supply Chain costs and Freight Allocations, providing commentary where required.
  • Planning and Forecasting:
  • Drive and lead the forecasting process for Operating Expenditure in conjunction with Operating Expenditure cost center owners and HR.
  • Assist full P&L planning process by providing COGS rates for future years and analysis on significant variances.
  • Perform Budget Rate Flip / Standard Setting Flip, and Annual Transfer Pricing exercise for COGS, provide explanation and commentary on variances.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure systems of internal control are integrated and embedded, SOP's maintained and compliance with GSK corporate accounting policies as required. Review and monitoring of Backend Monitoring (BEM) / Independent Business Monitoring (IBM)
  • Ensure all SOX and CERPS internal control framework requirements are met, and test controls.
  • Owner of P2P026 and P2P070 controls, monitor POs and Overdue Workflows, and ensure compliance.
  • Contact point and liaison for external Audit. Ensure compliance with all requirements encompassing data integrity and evidence of process and accuracy.
  • Assist Supply Chain team in performing Inter-Market Transfers of stock between AU / NZ, and help resolve issues as necessary.
  • Assist Supply Chain team with issues relating to adhoc projects such as Site Closure, and manage impacts to market.

  • Bachelor Degree and working towards Accounting Qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to display key attributes of successful finance partnering including:
  • 1) Business knowledge.
  • 2) Technical finance knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective financial management for a complex organization using technical expertise and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of financial systems and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Experience in financial governance and stewardship and the internal / external control environment.
