SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The R&D Chemist is responsible to develop and maintain products, in consultation with the Manager/Senior Chemist, by preparing, testing and evaluating the paint/binder/raw materials contributing to the achievement of the goals of the R&D plan.

This position will be reporting to the Senior R&D Chemist II/Category Manager and will based in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Responsibilities:

Carry out required development and maintenance tasks by planning, formulating, testing, and evaluating recipes and raw materials. This is carried out in consultation with the Manager/Senior Chemist and in accordance with the R&D plan.
Report the results from development and maintenance work both orally and written to ensure that the correct decisions, based on current experience, are made.
Search for and make use of knowledge through literature, practical experience, learning from others as well as attending courses to be able to work more independently with more complex R&D tasks.
Have recipe responsibility for assigned products through maintenance and following up towards production and marketing departments to ensure that the quality of the product satisfies the market requirements and according to environmental regulations.
Participate in project work and project groups with professional and practicable input.
Knowledge and use of the necessary safety equipment as described and to take into consideration general safety; this includes being able to understand the content and the meaning of safety data sheets.
Attend to the daily order in the laboratory so that the workspace is tidy, safe and pleasant.
Lead the R&D Technician/Assistant in line with Leadership Expectations and use the relevant tools to develop, coach and guide the employee to ensure a competent, engaged and enabled team member and workforce.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree with minimum 4 years of relevant experience
Must be proficient in verbal and written English
