Description
Following maintenance strategies, procedures, work instruction and work methods prepared by the Chief Engineman.

  • Diagnosing any vessel's engine related breakdown problem.
  • Reporting to Chief Engineman to get the maintenance work done correctly.
  • Assisting the Chief Engineman on planning and scheduling planned and unplanned work for the maintenance of equipment and vessel.
  • Controlling and ensuring the maintenance tools, stores and equipment are in good condition.
  • Carrying out quality inspections on the vessel's engine service and maintenance job.
  • Controlling operation of diesel generators used to produce electrical power.
  • Cleaning, adjusting, testing and performing other preventive maintenance on a dredger's main engines, diesel generators and other auxiliary machinery including steering engines, elevators, winches, pumps and associated valves.
  • Repairing or replacing valves, pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, steam turbines and hydraulic or pneumatic control devices.
  • Making entries in and analyzing machinery operating records and reports.
