Description
The position is responsible for developing and securing business opportunities and executing the strategies for the Casualty business which includes working with partners and distribution channels (agency, broking, direct, banking and group related) to drive activity, build relationships, secure new business and execute our plans.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Targets
- To grow the Casualty business, executing new business wins, meeting underwriting targets, driving submission activity and work with and direct /influence the distribution channels in achieving the targeted /strategic goals and plans for the year.
- Portfolio Management
- Assess and manage the portfolio performance, and underwriting referrals within authority and referrals to regional in line with underwriting processes and procedures.
- Market Visibility
- Raising visibility of Casualty products and capabilities through various means including coordinating market visitation, conducting presentations and discussions to enhance awareness. Develop relationships with intermediaries, stakeholders and customers.
- Service standard
- Ensure the unit is meeting and delivering service standard level agreed with distribution channels (quotation, enquiry).
- Reporting
- Adherence to reporting, internal and external, timely and accurate submission of reports and statistics as required
- Mentor colleagues towards the achievement of agreed goals and targets set for the year, development of best talents and common underwriting philosophy / cultures
- Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, PIAM, local and global guidelines
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
- Good grasp of market practices, competitor intelligence and policy coverage
- Ability to drive submissions and production through our distribution channels
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Words, Excel and Power Point)
- Possess mature disposition, be motivated and able to work independently and make sound judgements
- Good analytics and problem solving skills
Experience
More than 5 years relevant experience in the class of business
Qualifications
Degree in any discipline or professional qualifications in Insurance e.g. ACII/AMII/AAII or progression in AMII
