Reports To:


  • Head of Taxation

Role Purpose:


  • Pivotal role in managing, leading and provide ad hoc decision making in aspects of Statutory and Corporate Income Tax, Indirect Taxes, Global Taxation (new tax regulation to be adopted) and other statutory returns to ensure submissin on a timely basis. To also manage and lead the adhoc Tax Projects. Reporting to Head of Taxation.

Key Accountability:


  • Contribute to planning the group's strategy and operations to ensure that the taxation position is optimized, consistent with overall corporate objectives. This includes providing input for formulating policies and determine procedural requirements for the group of companies to ensure compliance with the applicable tax laws.
  • Managing tax compliance matters for the Group companies. Review lodgement of local and foreign tax statutory reporting.
  • Independently liaison with regulatory and government authorities for incentives and tax audits.
  • Advise management of new or proposed legislation, decisions, regulations, and rulings in tax and related areas.
  • Independently liaison with internal stakeholders for accurate tax reporting, process improvements and various projects.
  • Ad hoc decision making and undertake additional responsibilities to support / replace other team member roles if required.
  • Supervise and support staffs within the team including guidance for problem solving and coaching. Provide guidance and review to junior team members and contribute to maintaining high tax department morale.

Qualifications & Working Experience:


  • Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance and/or related field with 5 years experience in Accounting and/ or Finance capacity.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, MIA, etc.) with prior experience in Big 4 would be advantageous.

Skills & Knowledge:


  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess strong understanding of accounting, tax, or finance principles.
  • Possess strong knowledge of Word processing, spreadsheet and presentation tools (Word / Excel / PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently in a changing environment, whilst able to coach and guide team in delivering quality and timely output.

Key Challenges:


  • Quality and timeliness of financial inputs from finance operations, business units and subsidiaries which impacts the quality and timeliness of department's tax and GST reporting.
  • Attracting the right talent and retaining them.
  • System limitation which requires manual intervention.
