Job Summary

What is the opportunity?


You will be responsible to review and provide advice to Internal Partners at various stages of credit agreements (pre and post close) to ensure RBC's ability to deliver on commitments.

You will provide expert processing advice and support to the Analysts within the assigned team in the day to day credit operations and input to the GLA Head over all operational aspects related to Loan processing & servicing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages the day to day credit operations of a Global Loan Administration team including monitoring conditions of the credit and processing advancement of funds within the Credit Agreement terms across the Wholesale Loan Book in Capital Markets. In addition, responsibilities include post sales servicing of other business lines and platforms including Securitization, Secondary Loan Trading, Nonperforming loans.
  • Provides input to the GLA London Head over all operational aspects related to Loan processing & servicing including:(i) providing expert advise at the draft stage of credit agreements to ensure RBC's ability to deliver on commitments; (ii) proactively identifying operational and reputational risk (iii) proactively identifying and recommending opportunities for continuous improvement activities or enhanced controls.
  • Accountable and Responsible for the operationalization and execution of the Corporate Lending Credit Agreement:
  • Preparation & maintenance of the "Front Sheet"
  • which captures all operational aspects of the credit documentation and facilitates the daily administration of the final deal, ensuring the deal is accurately captured in our lending/operating/financial systems.
  • Review draft credit agreements and amending agreements to ensure that GLA is able to operationalize all aspects of the agreement:
  • Providing advice to Corporate Bankers on terms/conditions of the Credit Agreement at the draft stage, as it relates to possible/potential issues to: (i) booking point; (ii) effective connection; (iii) currency capabilities; (iv) timing/cash flow requirements; (v) product options/funding capabilities; (vi) validity of reference rates.
  • Proactively identify operational and reputational risk and provide suggestions to Internal Partners to mitigate such occurrences.
  • Liaise with borrowers, Agents, and legal counsel (both internal and external) as required in order to solve problems and provide correct operational protocol.
  • Ability to respond to requests that fall outside the parameters of the credit agreement.
  • Verify fixed and accruing ACBS fee schedule setups:
  • Ensure that fixed fee revenue streaming is correct based on the advised upon fee treatment (Responsibility Transit/GIB/FIC/etc.).
  • Ensure that daily accruing fee revenue streaming is correct based on supporting language in Credit Agreement.
  • Provide backup to Managers during peak periods and absences:
  • Able to make informed decisions in tight deadline situations while mitigating reputational/operational risk to RBC.
  • Demonstrate leadership & problem solving skills by providing support and guidance to the Analyst when needed in their daily work.
  • Review GLA reports (Seagate/OMS/Audit Sheet) and ensures prompt attention by the Analyst to input comments and/or correct outstanding items within guidelines.
  • Identify gaps in GLA processes and provide detailed recommendations to the Manager for consideration and assist with the implementation of process changes

What you need to succeed?

  • An Undergraduate Degree with a strong operational background (4+ years)
  • 35 years of related experience with proven demonstration of knowledge in lending/credit practices including knowledge of syndication practices, loan documentation, lending products, funding mechanisms in Canadian, US, UK/EU, SY markets.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage strong and effective relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines.
