About Muhammad Fahmi Burhanuddin:
As a Chemical Process Engineering graduate, I aspire to be a Chemical Engineer or Process Engineer. My aspiration in the chemical engineering field has encouraged me to seek more knowledge on the Principles of Process Design, Working Principles and design of Unit Operations and Equipment, Process Plant Design and Process Safety. My experience in Process Plant Design includes successfully designing a detailed PFD and P&ID for Propylene Oxide production via Visio, developing mass and energy balance simulations using MS Excel and Aspen HYSYS, conducting equipment design using AutoCAD, and preparing process safety studies through CHRA, HIRARC and HAZOP for the Propylene Oxide production plant. Additionally, I have published a research study on the Preparation and characterization of acetylated starch-mediated silver nanoparticles for antimicrobial and biodegradable packaging film for food.
I did my 3-month internship as a Proposal Engineer Trainee at DAR Energy. My responsibilities have allowed me to experience hands-on in modifying user-experience for our cost estimation handbooks and conducting feasibility studies to ensure economically sound projects which required me to use MS Excel extensively to maneuver around input data and produce cost drafts for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning project for both brown and green field.
I have two years of experience as Secretary of the Chemical Process Engineering Student Society honed my interpersonal, communication, management and leadership skills, enabling me to coordinate and moderate successful operations and management of events, including a career webinar and coffee conversation series as well as liaising with our partners.
I am ready to contribute and leverage my expertise and experience in chemical process engineering to excel in a real refinery, petrochemical, oilfield exploration and production working environment.
Experience
12-weeks of internship at DAR Energy has allowed me to experience hands-on in improving user-experience for our cost estimation handbook that serves as a support for tender reviewing and cost drafting. My internship experience also provides me with the opportunity in preparing and documenting invoices that also include the details of the manhour of expertise and service provided.
Education
As a chemical process engineer graduate, I am equipped with the expertise and knowledge of the principle of process design, the working principle of unit operations and equipment as well as process optimization that is compliant towards process safety management. I am also experienced in employing various engineering software such as Visio, AutoCAD, Aspen HYSYS and MATLAB. I was once involved in developing a unit operations known as flash column that required me to leverage my expertise and knowledge in principle of process design to build a detailed-mechanical design for the flash column by using AutoCAD, Aspen HYSYS and MS Excel.
