  My Ph.D. plays a stepping stone for future career success, learning more about myself or a particular academic topic, and solving a problem in my local context.

  I felt a considerable tension between developing disciplinary knowledge and building professional skills but in the end essential for later career success.  My Ph.D. journey is often solitary, challenging, and overwhelming.
