SARAVANAKKUMAR NACHIMUTHU

A recent marine science graduate from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) with the highest honours. My passion towards environmental sustainability has led me to exercise sustainable gardening by utilising household food waste. I possess adequate knowledge of oceanography, remote sensing and GIS and hands-on experience with various remote sensing and GIS software, acquired from my undergraduate studies and internship experiences.

I carried out my internship recently from May to Aug 2022 at DHI Water & Environment (M) Sdn.Bhd. The tasks that I performed throughout my internship period are:
- Digitization of the shoreline, capes, and others from Tuaran to Kudat using ArcGIS for the Integrated Shoreline Management Plan (ISMP), Sabah.
• Mapping of mangrove forest areas throughout Sabah and Sarawak using remote sensing and GIS applications.
• Executed literature review on legislation, policies, and enforcement agencies for the preservation and conservation of Aquatic lives, State & National Parks, Reserved forests, Marine Parks and extraction of the river and marine sand in Terengganu.
• Assisted the Environmental Consultant in report writing of the ISMP Terengganu.
 

I have recently graduated with the highest honours from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with BSc (Hons) in Marine Science. My thesis saw me specialising in remote sensing and GIS. My dissertation was on the “Application of Spectral Indices in Determination of Shoreline Changes in West Johor using Remote Sensing and GIS”. Possess adequate knowledge of marine sciences, covering a wide range of subjects such as fisheries science, marine microbiology, ecology, benthic ecology, coral reef biology, biotechnology, physical oceanography, remote sensing and GIS, meteorology and etc.
