Wagen Low Yi Khang

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science with a specialization in Aquaculture. Following my academic pursuits, I embarked on an internship at a state-of-the-art indoor Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) grouper farming facility located in Quanzhou, China. Upon completing this internship, I returned to Malaysia, where I immersed myself in a startup seafood enterprise. Over the course of three years, I progressively ascended from the role of aquaculturist to Operation Manager, eventually assuming responsibilities within the sales department.

Subsequently, I transitioned into a position as Farm Supervisor at a fingerling production company. In this role, I supervised a vast 70-acre expanse of land, overseeing a team of 30 workers. My responsibilities encompassed ensuring the seamless functionality of the operation, spanning livestock production, equipment maintenance, and labor coordination, all with the overarching goal of enhancing productivity.

During this period, I experienced a significant shift in my professional passions, transitioning from an interest in edible fish to a profound enthusiasm for ornamental fish. Over the course of the year, I became an avid aquascaping hobbyist and am actively pursuing opportunities to further my career in this direction.

Internship: QuanYing (Fujian) Teach.Co (China)  (2019)

• Proficient in the operational procedures of Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), encompassing micro-filtration, bio-filtration, sterilization, and degassing processes within the system.
• Experienced in the cultivation and management of various marine species
• Competent in the daily monitoring of water quality, including parameters such as W Nitrite, Nitrate, Ammonia, pH, Salinity, and temperature within the system. Proficient in using the HACH DR-900 machine for precise measurements.
• Proficient in calculating Feed Conversion Ratios (FCR) by utilizing tabulated feeding quantities. Skilled at adjusting feeding schedules based on environmental conditions and disease prevention measures.
• Knowledgeable about facility biosecurity protocols and adept at conducting daily fish autopsies for mortality assessment and disease diagnosis.

Aquaculturist/ Operation manager: C&C Aquaculture Sdn. Bhd (March 2020- Feb 2023)

• Supervised and managed the entire operation of live mud crab handling, including sorting, cleaning, and transportation.
• Conducted routine maintenance of water quality, ensuring the stability of critical parameters such as salinity, pH, ammonia levels, and water hardness.
• Implemented oversight of the well-being and mortality rates of mud crabs, generating comprehensive monthly mortality reports.
• Managed and supervised the entire process of crab fattening and feeding.
• Enforced strict quality control standards for mud crabs.
• Conducted data analysis on various mud crab suppliers, evaluating water parameter correlations with mortality rates, and analyzing basic sales patterns.
• Created and verified Delivery Orders (DOs) for sales transactions, maintained and monitored online sales platforms for optimal performance.

Farm Supervisor: Trijoy Enterprise SDN. BHD | March 2023- present

• Held primary responsibility for overseeing the daily operations of a farm, ensuring its efficient and productive functioning. Managed a spectrum of tasks encompassing livestock production, equipment maintenance, and labor coordination.
• Provided direct supervision for livestock care, including responsibilities such as feeding, breeding, health monitoring, and facilities upkeep.
• Conducted data collection, tabulation, and analysis for various key metrics, including production yields, livestock output, and expenses. Utilized data-driven insights to optimize farm operations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in identifying and addressing potential issues that could adversely affect farm productivity, such as adverse weather conditions or equipment malfunctions.
• Developed and implemented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for fish disease treatment and water treatment, ensuring adherence to best practices in aquaculture management.
