Yew Yan H'ng

I pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance at Cass Business School in London. During my last year of university, I completed an internship with PwC as an external auditor, gaining valuable exposure to various industries. I returned to complete my degree and graduated with upper second-class honors. Following my graduation, I founded a start-up venture focused on completing painting jobs within one day as I discovered that this type of service was not offered by any other competitors in Malaysia while concurrently pursuing my ACCA exams. Despite persevering through challenges for an extended period of time, I ultimately determined it was best to discontinue the venture. Although the venture was not ultimately successful, it provided me with valuable insights into the realities of starting and growing a business. I then joined GUH Properties, a property development company in Malaysia, as a Corporate Finance Analyst, where I progressively advanced to the role of Corporate Finance Manager over four years, leading a team of three. During my time at GUH Properties, I have also successfully completed my ACCA exams and became a chartered accountant certified by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) in Malaysia.

During my time at GUH Properties, I gained extensive experience in financial analysis by conducting feasibility studies for a diverse range of property development projects and establishing effective pricing structures for each of them. I also conducted tax strategy analysis for the company's intragroup financing, utilizing sensitivity analysis to determine the optimal approach, resulting in maximizing tax savings for the company. This demonstrated my ability to use data-driven insights effectively, creating value for the company.

Furthermore, I was responsible the financial aspects of the company's share grant plan, which involved determining the appropriate accounting treatment and option value using trinomial pricing models. This experience gave me a deep understanding of complex financial instruments and the importance of accurate valuation. Combined with my proficiency in trinomial option pricing, enterprise value analysis, NTA analysis, and other financial approaches I have utilized in my previous roles, I am well-equipped to identify investment opportunities and drive growth for the company. I am confident that I would be a valuable addition to HSBC's team, working alongside highly skilled professionals to make a significant impact.
