Yi Shen Tang

Currently a final year student of Chemical Engineering at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) seeking for fresh graduate jobs in engineering roles.

I am proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint and have experience in some engineering-related softwares such as Autocad, Aspen Hysis, Matlab Programming and Microsoft Visio. I have completed three-month internship at Agricultural Chemicals Malaysia (ACM) where I was assigned to the Quality Assurance Department (QA) to do product analysis and remove off-spec products that do not meet or exceed the safety limits. Throughout this three-month internship, I had good experience using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC), both widely used in the Quality Assurance sector.

I took a degree in chemical engineering, which deals with a lot of design and development of manufacturing processes, process unit operations and equipment. Chemical engineering requires and applies the principles of physics, chemistry and engineering mathematics. Some of the courses I was taking were physical chemistry, organic chemistry, fluid dynamics, Matlab programming, statistics, thermodynamics, process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, process dynamics and control. During my studies, I experienced using simulation software such as Aspen Hysis and Superpro after we had finalized the process flow. In short, chemical engineering is about converting useful raw materials into valuable products while ensuring health and safety standards are met.
