    Job Description Summary:

    The position is for a Senior Credit Officer role supporting Corporate and Investment Bank business units across South East Asia, from credit risk perspective, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In addition, covering regulatory tasks in Malaysia & ensuring compliance of risk related regulations imposed by Bank Negara Malaysia.

  • Your key responsibilities:

  • Senior Credit Officer is responsible for reviewing, recommending and approving complex / structured transactions across business units and wide spectrum of products
  • Demonstrate an understanding of underlying risks in Derivatives Markets, Trade Finance and Lending products
  • Demonstrate a sound judgment of Risk / Return in arriving at credit decisions / recommendations in order to achieve the overall portfolio strategy and objectives of the Bank
  • Liaise with clients, interface directly with front office staff and other CRM units on credit approvals, credit requirements and relationship matters
  • Effective resolution of conflicting views with Business in a constructive and professional manner, maintaining the Bank's underwriting standards, at the same time supporting the Business to achieve agreed targets
  • Drive audit and regulatory agenda as required
  • Training / guiding juniors in reviewing structured transactions, knowledge transfer to other credit officers
  • Manage a portfolio of existing transactions with responsibilities including: Monitor counterparty performance by reviewing financial and operational reporting, confirming covenant compliance and assessing industry trends. Monitor and evaluate ratings on an ongoing basis, identify credit deterioration and make recommendations for watch list Produce annual credit & rating reviews, watch list reviews
  • Assess new transactions, including (but not limited to) the following: Interface with Front Office on new deal screenings and assess credit risks related to operating environment, business strategy, financial profile and management. Provide preliminary views on ratings, risk appetite and compliance with regulatory and policy requirements Participate in due diligence by reviewing internal and independent financial, commercial and technical analysis and evaluating business plans, financial projections and models Review loan terms and documentation, assess compliance with underwriting standards, portfolio limits and other requirements Review credit memos, assess credit & repayment capacity, analyze valuations and liquidity Determine ratings, write and present credit recommendations to required approvers
  • Collaborate with other areas within the Bank, including front office and support functions such as Market Risk, Regulatory and Advisory, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Operations
  • Your skills and experience:

  • In depth knowledge of credit risk associated with corporate and investment banking products and business, product knowledge including Financing, Commercial Banking, Trade Finance & Derivative Products
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a risk management function, preferably covering leveraged lending or project finance; knowledge of derivatives and margin products
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills and knowledge of corporate finance; risk judgement, familiarity with structured finance transactions and legal documentation
  • Broad knowledge of a range of industries
  • Strong communication and leadership skills – ability to lead / work with other junior members of the team across locations, ability to respond to enquiries from stakeholders, Auditors, Regulators
  • Detail-focused with strong writing and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to present information in a structured, clear and concise way
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally with divisional clients locally & globally, as well as internal stakeholders
  • Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent qualification / relevant work experience. A related degree ideally coupled with a Risk Management qualification
