    Summary

    Manage and support Intel/VMware/Windows servers/operating systems and Active Directory that constitute the Celestica global enterprise server environment.

    These duties include VMware, Windows Server, and Active Directory administration tasks, operating systems management, hardware, and software architecture, installation, configuration, and support, system/admin security and setup

    The Specialist, IT Infrastructure will install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the virtual infrastructure and operating environments, ensuring the ongoing reliability, performance, and security of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring and upkeeping the virtual infrastructure and operating environments; responding to incidents & problems, planning for growth, deployment of new technologies as well as designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and performing testing of virtual infrastructure, server operating systems, networks, and related utilities and hardware. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting problems as reported by users, and the acquisition, replacement, and decommissioning of related equipment, software, and services.

    Detailed Description

    • Deal with Tier 2/3 problem-solving in a timely efficient manner
    • Available 24x7 for critical Tier 2/3 / Priority 1 or 2 production problems
    • Respond to, and resolve, ServiceNow tickets (both priority and service requests), in the GBL-Intel and GBL-AD queues
    • Direct other members of the global AD team and the global server support teams
    • Develop, architect, and support enterprise solutions using Windows 2012, 2016, and 2019 for enterprise applications and related databases
    • Develop, architect, and support mid-range and enterprise storage solutions for servers ( Windows, Linux), applications, and related databases
    • Communicate effectively with both executive and technical levels, building customer service-centric relationships and communicating technical concepts to colleagues on Windows, Linux, Storage, and related management teams. Develop concise technical documents and/or deliverables for the project and daily support
    • Direct vendor and company support teams, or work individually, to use standard operating facilities (including PowerShell scripts and operating system administration tools), diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and system documentation to identify, diagnose, and solve basic system problems as directed
    • Perform server performance tuning, including monitoring servers and taking corrective action to maximize server uptime, including disk drive capacity within defined limits, network connectivity, virtualization, process monitoring, and control, memory utilization, performance, and hardware/software monitoring
    • Provide server security with respect to implementing security measures and designs to protect individual server hosts from unauthorized access
    • Provide application server support by assisting application teams in installing and upgrading software, creating job schedules, creating and maintaining directories, assisting with application tuning, following change control, and assisting in job monitoring
    • Provide tier 2/3 escalation support to the Service Desk for performance issues, including maintaining historical information on server and/or storage systems performance, making adjustments to system-level parameters, compiling statistics, making adjustments to system parameters to increase performance, and compiling network performance metrics

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

    Extensive VMware Enterprise experience (VMware 6, 7)

    Extensive Windows Server Enterprise experience (Win 2012, 2016, and 2019)

    Minimum of 7 years experience as the SME for VMware and Windows Server for architecting systems, and daily operating procedures. projects, consultations, and critical incidents

    In-depth working knowledge of VMWare/server virtualization environments, VMware hosts, clusters, vCenter, vSAN, NSX-T networking & security

    Demonstrate deep technical experience including architecting, sizing, designing, installing, integrating, implementing, and supporting multiple varieties of Windows-based solutions,

    Extensive Windows Active Directory experience, including LDAPS, FSMO roles, trusts, OUs, groups, etc.

    Minimum of 5 years experience for Active Directory for daily operating procedures, projects, consultations, and critical incidents

    Strong troubleshooting ability

    Ability to work in a group and individually

    Working knowledge of mid-range and enterprise storage systems in iSCSI SAN, FC SAN, FC switch

    Extensive experience in dealing with senior management, application support teams, and other business partners

    Extensive experience in working with remote IT teams

    Extensive experience in directing and dealing with third-party support teams

    Practical knowledge of standard quotation and purchasing processes

    Practical experience in dealing directly with vendors and commodity/procurement departments

    A thorough understanding of networking is required

    Physical Demands

    The duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

    Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
