    About the Role

    As a Technical Lead also known as Chapter Lead for Engineers, you have the opportunity to build and maintain a team of great software engineers. You will be responsible for the staffing of your chapter, act as a coach, building and developing your chapter members, understanding and identifying their development needs as well as organizing the resource allocation of chapter members to squads and orchestrate the performance of the chapter.
    In the agile context you will also participate as 'hands-on' squad member to contribute to the success of a squad as well as to retain and grow your people manager as well as technical expertise.

    What to expect as Chapter Lead

    As a Technical Lead also known as Chapter Lead for the Engineers , you are responsible to hire, coach, and motivate team members of your chapter in order to build a group of talented software engineers who can deliver value in their squads.

    This activity is expected to take up to 50% of your time and includes:

  • Responsible for craftmanship building for each of chapter member as well as people development to achieve professional competency.
  • Coach chapter members on best practices and software design patterns to use in their respective products and set up knowledge sharing between chapter members and participate in cross-tribe knowledge sharing.
  • Select and recruit squad members with skills to meet projected demand and to have qualified, competent and motivated chapter members.
  • Work with the Product Owners and the Engineering Lead to organise the chapter member assignment in squads
  • Develop and design and development initiatives to fill identified gaps and improvement areas.
  • Build a network within and outside the Chapter, maintains relationships with all relevant stakeholders and makes sure they are consulted and informed when needed.
  • Set annual objectives and conduct mid-year review and year-end performance appraisal of chapter members,
  • Orchestrate the feedback collection from Product Owner, Agile Coach, and stakeholders to assess development needs and agree on skills development goals for chapter members.
  • Leads with a team focus : Contributes to team effectiveness through professional leadership; respects diversity and encourages others to do so; provides motivational opportunities and recognizes differences in team member contributions; serves as a role model by living SWIFT values.
  • The remaining time will be working on squad's commitment which you will be focusing on delivering business insights to our customers through Data Management Platform (DMP).

    What to expect as Squad member

  • Solid programming/coding experience in Java Development
  • Solid understanding of Data Engineering, Data Hub, Data Lake and Data Warehousing concepts and ability to articulate to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge with some RDBMS and/or NoSQL knowledge (OracleDB)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, battle-tested in high-volume production environments.
  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies is a big plus: Apache NIFI, Apache Airflow, Amazon S3
  • Experience working in an Agile development (scrum) context, with hands-on experience on Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence, ...) and CICD development & deployment tools (Cloudbees, Nexus, Git)
  • Experience with Virtualisation concepts and orchestration technologies (Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with scripting language, primarily Unix Shell, Perl, Python
  • Experience in manual & automated testing
  • What will make you successful

    a) Experience & Education

  • Master or bachelor degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent through experience
  • Several years of people management experiences
  • Minimum 8 years of IT development/testing/integration experience
