Nature and Aim of the position

As a MicroStrategy Developer, you will provide comprehensive technical guidance and MicroStrategy architecture expertise to redesign our legacy reporting system and improve our Business Intelligence platform experience. You will lead the Data Warehouse model design, assess the current MicroStrategy environment, and oversee the development of the analytical tools.

You will be responsible for defining best practices and standards for report visualizations, to ensure readability, consistency, and a positive overall user experience. You will be also responsible for evaluating new visualization features available publicly or from vendors, as well as performing architectural reviews of new reports being promoted to production.

Main duties and responsibilities

• MicroStrategy schema definition, design, implementation, and maintenance
• Analysis and interpretation of business requirements and translation into functional and technical requirement specifications
• Designs and builds Dossiers and/or Dashboards
• Builds data models/workflows and reporting schema semantic layers
• Create and manage metric and attribute definitions related to schema
• Works with the business users to create functional requirements and technical documents
• Works closely with MicroStrategy support and System Administrator to ensure successful implementation and data migration
• Performance tuning, testing, and troubleshooting
• Evaluate current and emerging industry trends and best practices when designing solutions
• Work closely with DBAs on data model or database changes as required

Reporting and collaboration

• The holder of the position reports to a Head of Software Engineering for Added Value Payment Solution in Global Blue.
• The holder of the position collaborates with the Enterprise Architect, Business Units, and the Commercial organizations

Key competencies

• At least 6 years of Data Warehouse experience with development of logical and physical data models
• At least 5 years of MicroStrategy experience including experience in designing schema objects
• At least 3 years of experience at Architect level, MicroStrategy v10.x+ Architect Certified is preferred
• 3 years of experience in the card payment processing industry a plus
• Experience on Intelligent Cube Development, Custom widget, visualization development and implementation
• Experience with other analytical packages or data manipulation languages (Tableau, Python) and integration of these with MicroStrategy is an advantage
• Hands on development experience in BI reporting and Performance tuning
• Advanced SQL coding skills

Education and qualifications

• Computer Science or Engineering degree or relevant work experience
• Project management skills a plus
