    Role Value Proposition

    As a member of the Asia Compliance Operations, Governance & Assurance team, the Director will support the Regional Chief Compliance Officer in overseeing the Compliance Program in the region and helping the Asia businesses execute their strategic growth initiatives in a compliant and ethical manner.

    In partnership with all second line risk partners, Internal Audit and first line stakeholders, the role will support coordination and management of the Non-Financial Risk Management Framework for Asia ex. Japan, providing insight into risks and controls, and oversight and monitoring of compliance risk management.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-functionally to drive the global and regional Compliance Program, build risk accountability and culture, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Lead the operation of Compliance Program activity for Asia ex. Japan, including compliance controls testing & monitoring, issue management, risk metrics and risk assessment.
  • Analyze relevant compliance risk metrics and present overall status of compliance risk in Asia, highlighting potential areas of control framework enhancement and engage with key stakeholders to address gaps.
  • Co-ordinate and compile regional compliance reporting for CRM Senior Leadership Team, regional risk governance committees and relevant GRM committees.
  • Co-ordinate regular management meetings with regional Country Compliance Officers, developing agenda of relevant topics.
  • Identify, assess, prioritize, design and implement an effective regional compliance QA methodology.
  • Act as a "local compliance officer" to support and oversee relevant (non-operating entity) compliance risks develop necessary guidelines and implement global compliance policies as required.
  • Support the development and deployment of a digital and data analytics strategy for compliance within Asia ex. Japan and provide advice to regional business digital initiatives.
  • Act as Asia ex. Japan Compliance Lead for the implementation and ongoing management of the Non-Financial Risk Assessment framework within Asia ex. Japan
  • Oversee major regulatory developments in the region, including horizon scanning, analysis, and tracking country implementation status, providing reporting to regional and global stakeholders as required.
  • Promote recognition and talent development programs, including taking the lead in planning and delivery of regional Compliance townhalls and conferences.
  • Act as regional compliance lead for relevant corporate projects impacting compliance operations (e.g. Third-Party Risk Management deployment)
  • Provide compliance advice and support to regional strategic initiatives, including due diligence efforts·
  • Develop, deliver and track compliance training and other awareness communications for regional office staff and / or Country Compliance Officers
  • Provide ongoing training to new CRM employees within Asia ex. Japan on compliance operations and global programs, and provide best practice sharing on a regular basis.
  • Support initiatives to drive an ethical culture in the region.
  • Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

    Expertise and experience

  • College undergraduate degree required, Master's degree a plus.
  • At least 10 years of experience in compliance, and/or risk management, and/or internal audit in financial Industry (a minimum of 3 in compliance preferred)
  • Experience in some key compliance risk areas such as Anti-Corruption, AML and sales practices.
  • Experience in digital initiatives or oversight of the digital space preferred and interest in and willingness to engage in digital innovation and technology is a must
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, proficiency in Chinese (verbal and written) a plus
  • Proficient in excel, power point, and use of systems and software and some experience with Tableau, R or other data analytics systems/languages preferred
  • Creative, innovative, practical in solving problems and conflicts
  • Able to challenge the status quo and be a change agent
  • Able to influence Country Compliance Officers, partners and key stakeholders
  • Able to deliver output, and present ideas in a simple and effective way
  • A self-starter, able to work independently, hold self to high standards. Able to manage deliverables within due dates, good at time management and project management.
