    Analyst, Supply Management General Description Procurement Analysts play a key role in the supply chain management of Steelcase's manufacturing operations. They serve as the key liaison between the Company and its vendors. This position requires sourcing and managing various direct material commodity vendors (die-casting, packaging, plastics, metal) throughout the procurement process – from development to approval. Key skills required include vendor search & evaluation, financial analysis, project management, problem solving, negotiation. The candidate is expected to initiate, propose & lead cost reduction projects; understanding macro-economic trends & take actions to safeguard supply chain continuity; manage & resolve quality & delivery related challenges with vendors; plan & execute long term vendor commodity strategy. The candidate is also expected to establish a well network both internally to Steelcase and externally, work under minimal supervision, and hold limited 'people' leader responsibility. Task
  • Strategic sourcing of direct material vendors based on its commodity needs. Utilize technical knowledge to evaluate vendor manufacturing capabilities, evaluate & communicate internal product specifications. Understand macro-economic factors, make cost comparisons & propose recommendations. Key commodities include – die-casting, packaging, plastics, & metal.
  • Work closely with vendors to support new product development and lead product localization to ensure product technical, quality, pricing requirements are met. Manage project work to ensure projects with direct material suppliers are on-time, complete and aligned with business strategies. Work with local, global, & technical teams across various project needs.
  • Manage supplier evaluation and continuous improvement programs in support of quality team to reduce DPPM, eliminate customer complaints, & ensure smooth delivery of goods.
  • Understand global supply chain & macroeconomic trends to problem solve supply chain interruptions. Support Purchasing – supply management team to eliminate supplier delivery challenges.
  • Propose new cost reduction initiatives and drive implementations that improves operating margins and/ or supply chain agility.
  • Skills/Abilities
  • Analytical Skill: Ability to evaluate & compare vendors & supply chain options based on a variety of factors and propose a recommendation that best benefits the Company.
  • Business Acumen/ Economic Analysis: Ability to understand/interpret product and costing data, economic principles, profit/loss analysis as they relate to the profitability of the Company's operations.
  • Written & Verbal Communication Skill: Ability to communicate technical, business, & operational requirements effectively across different functional teams internally and externally. Experience in working with contracts is a plus. Language proficiency in mandarin is a plus.
  • Project Management: Ability to plan project timelines, manage and lead project team to complete projects within the proposed budget & timeline per plan.
  • Technology/ Engineering Analysis & Methodology: Ability to understand manufacturing principles and processes according to the Company's product needs. Experience in one or more in the following commodities is required: aluminum die-casting, packaging materials, plastic injection molding, metal fabrication, wood working. Experience in understanding & interpreting technical drawing requirements relating to the above commodity is a plus.
  • Problem Solving/ Decision Making: Ability to utilize a variety of methods and techniques in solving technical challenges. Comfortable in challenging status quo/ established practices to problem solve. Able to recommend resources necessary to resolve issues and implements changes under limited supervision.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases & analytics. SAP experience is a plus.
  • Interpersonal: Ability to work effectively with peers and influence management in a multi-disciplined team environment, networking both internally and externally
  • Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering/ Business/ Accounting/ Finance or equivalent technical degree or certification.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience within the procurement discipline. Manufacturing industry and product development experience is a plus.
