Utility Technician - Malaysia, Butterworth - Kerry

Description

As a Utility Technician, your primary responsibility is to ensure the optimal performance and safety of industrial boilerswith expertise in utility equipment like air compressor and chillers.The job follows a rotating shift schedule, 8 hours a day, with 6 days on duty, 1 day off, and an extra day of rest. The shifts are from 8 am to 4 pm, 4 pm to 12 am, and 12 am to 8 am.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for boiler maintenance.
• Maintain efficient combustion and control fuel feed to sustain working pressure in various conditions.
• Ensure fuel size meets recommendations for optimal combustion.
• Ensure safety in the boiler area.
• Contribute to and update data in the meter reading log sheet.
• Possess knowledge of regulating boiler operation according to the Machinery Act Malaysia.
• Perform additional maintenance duties as needed.
• Operate the boiler safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the boiler and its auxiliary equipment are in optimal operating condition.
• Minimize interruptions in steam supply.
• Conduct first-level troubleshooting in case of boiler or auxiliary equipment breakdown.
• Contribute to and update data in the meter reading log sheet.
• Perform chemical analysis to monitor boiler water quality and take immediate action if it deviates from specifications.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety procedures as required by FMA or OSHA.
• Operate and maintain the steam boiler to achieve and sustain the required pressure and temperatures.
• Oversee day-to-day boiler operations and configure it to meet production targets.
• Maintain good housekeeping (5S) at the boiler's premises and strictly adhere to safety procedures at all times.

Qualifications and skills

• Successful completion of SPM or possession of a Diploma.
• Holds a 1st Grade Boilerman Certificate, demonstrating proficiency and expertise in boiler operation.
• While not mandatory, having prior experience in a related field is considered a valuable asset.
• Demonstrates a willingness and flexibility to work on shift duties, reflecting adaptability and commitment to the responsibilities of the role.
