One of the largest financial institutions with an extensive global network is currently recruiting for an AVP/VP - Legal Counsel job for its esteemed organisation.

About the AVP/VP - Legal Counsel Role:
Reporting to the Head of Legal Department, this role is based in Kuala Lumpur and works within a progressive and dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide extensive legal support and advice on banking products, covering both conventional and Islamic offerings, and navigate the bank's procedures and policies
• Review and draft a variety of legal documents and commercial contracts, including bilateral agreements, syndication/club deals, facility letters, loan agreements, and service agreements (intragroup and vendor)
• Stay updated on legal developments and legislations through thorough research, offering insightful guidance based on the findings
• Collaborate with external lawyers and regulatory authorities to handle legal matters involving the bank efficiently

To succeed in this AVP/VP - Legal Counsel role, you must have good communication skills, be detail-oriented and be agile.

Key Requirements:

• LLB qualification with a minimum of eight years' post-qualification experience (PQE) as an in-house or practicing lawyer in the financial sector
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of conventional and Islamic banking products, along with a strong understanding of laws relevant to banking and contract law
• Exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration and engagement with internal teams, external legal counsel, and other stakeholders
• Bring a meticulous and detail-oriented approach to legal work, ensuring accuracy and precision in reviewing and drafting legal documents
• Previous banking experience and familiarity with Islamic Documentation would be advantageous for the role
