    About us

Dyson is a global technology enterprise. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, with surprising new inventions that defy convention and simply work better. Were driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement. Were growing fast and our ambition is huge more categories, more locations and more people.

Our scale and rapid growth make Dyson rich in new opportunities. We value new ideas and diverse perspectives, so our people are trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset. Youll develop fast and have the chance to move into different business areas and regions. And youll be part of a global network of like-minded people a community that supports and learns from each other.

Power Systems is a global function that designs and develops Dysons internal technologies that enable most of our products. The team has experts in wide range of areas (mechanical, electrical, software, project management) and is responsible of the development from early stages through to production.

Based in Dysons RDD facility you will be joining the Motor Drives and Advanced Control (MDAC) team. The MDAC team form part of the Power Systems Group and is a significant part of Dyson RDD with a growing team of more than 100 highly skilled engineers, scientists and technicians in its UK, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines offices. The Group focuses on researching and developing cutting-edge electric motors, drives and control systems for integration into existing and future Dyson products.

    About the role

The main applications that the team are working on are motor drives, heater drives, batteries and IMU based applications. The algorithms that we design range from classic linear control systems to advanced control systems (Kalman filter, state-feedback, LQR) and machine learning algorithms depending on the application. Some of your tasks could include:

    • Requirement specification and algorithm development for control and estimation functions with consideration for safety & compliance, performance and robustness, analysis and ownership.
    • System modelling using first principle differential equations, transfer functions, state-space, multi-physics models with Simulink, Simscape or Stateflow.
    • Apply classic and advanced control/estimation theory and machine learning theory to develop control and estimation functions.
    • Evaluate algorithm design feasibility through theoretical analysis and testing.
    • Support software implementation and integration.
    • Identify and resolve design issues and perform data analysis and generate comprehensive technical reports.
    • Assist verification and validation team with validation planning, physical testing and certification if necessary.

    • Working knowledge of schematic capture, PCB layout and associated software.
    • Excellent communication in English (both verbal & written).

Malaysia Development Centre: A world-class development centre

In 2003, after 10 years of rapid expansion in the UK, Malaysia was chosen as an additional location to allow the continued growth of Dysons manufacturing and testing facility. It was close to component manufacturers and much of the supply chain, as well as providing very high levels of manufacturing quality. Over time, Dyson operations expanded in Malaysia. Having started out with a team of just 10, today our Malaysia Design Centre has grown to be a base for more than 1,200 skilled Dyson people working across Engineering, IT, Finance, Creative and HR. Our Johor facility had humble beginnings, but what was originally a few small labs covering 350m is now a bustling campus occupying 50,000m, including state-of-art acoustic chamber, environmental chamber, and rapid prototyping facilities. Its an important centre for research, development, design and testing home to an exceptional team.

    Benefits

Dyson Malaysia monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and bonuses. Beyond that, youll enjoy a transport allowance and comprehensive medical care and insurance. But financial benefits are just the start of a Dyson career. Professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, its an exciting team environment geared to fuelling and realising ambition.
