    Summary

    Offshore Manager manages geotechnical projects on one of our vessels in the Asia Pacific Region. He works in accordance with the Fugro Project Management Handbook, ensuring that the agreed work is carried out efficiently, such that the Quality, Healthy & Safety, Security and Environmental (QHSSE), technical, commercial, contractual and financial requirements are met. The Offshore Manager must be capable of planning, organising, managing, coordinating, leading, motivating, delegating, and communicating to achieve the optimum balance between costs, time and quality and between costs, benefits and risks.

    The Offshore Manager will report to the Project Delivery Manager.

    Responsibilities

  • To be conversant with all items and conditions of the Project both technically, commercially, and contractually and to have a full understanding of the scope of work.
  • Organise and lead several meetings, like Kick-off meetings for field crew, HIRA Stage 2, daily Heads of Department (HOD) meetings, Shift Handover Meetings, Toolbox Meetings.
  • Liaise with the project supervisors to ensure the task plans and 12 hourly pre-shift briefings are fully documented
  • Manage interfaces between offshore teams (i.e. project team and marine team) and ensure healthy camaraderie on-board
  • Accurately record and classify offshore events/downtime events in the Digital Daily Progress Report
  • Actively contribute to onshore project activities when required, including preparation of Mobilisation Plan, Port-call Plan and working on-board the vessel as the Mobilisation manager
  • Review project documentation – HIRA, project execution plans, borehole plans, vessel work instructions and provide input and value-add
  • Regular communications with the Project Manager, daily calls with the office, Daily Progress Reporting
  • Lead by example and to double up as HSE coach when required. Conduct Safety Meetings, Toolbox Meetings, HSE and Quality related incident and investigation reporting, lead and direct Risk Assessments and Management of Change processes on board. To report and allocate resources to resolve any HSE issues.
  • Understand and internalise Fugro's Life Saving Rules and vessel safety policies
  • Ensure active participation in HOC cards, open incident reporting
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Keeping the client always informed, building relationship with the CSR, Daily Progress Reporting, understand and know the contract
  • Requirements

  • At least Polytechnic degree or equivalent (Bsc)
  • 7- 10 years minimum working experience ( Expectation is experience is more spent offshore )
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the role as an Offshore Manager or Offshore Supervisor role
  • Leadership experience
  • BOSIET
  • Safety qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH)
  • Project Management qualifications
  • Abe to read basic engineering drawings for fabricated grillage/lifting frames/A-frames, deck layouts and sea-fastening drawings
  • Able to analyse at a basic level finite element analysis reports for fabrication of structures/sea-fastening
  • Marine experience on anchor/spread moored vessels/barges and dynamic positioning an advantage
  • Able to manage shipyard contractors for equipment fit up and installation on deck, lifting activities, hotwork activities
  • Experience with winches/wire replacement/socketing an advantage
  • Experience with welding/NDT an advantage
  • Experience with drill systems/mud circulation/hydraulics an advantage
