    Job Description

    We are looking for a Research Associate to join Wood Mackenzie's Power and Renewables Asset Data team. This role will focus on data collection and primary research, ensuring a high-quality foundational data set to drive our market and policy research. The candidate will work closely across our Power and Renewables teams to support coverage of the global renewable industry.

    Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables promotes analysts as industry experts and as such, analysts must be thoughtful, intellectually curious, and creative. Analysts are expected to take complex, disparate ideas and distil them into simple, provocative concepts. Attention to detail and dedication to continuous process improvement are critical in this data-focused role.

    Main Responsibilities

  • Create, monitor, and maintain relevant data for renewable technologies by conducting primary and secondary research. The data to be monitored includes general market dynamics, business models, market and policy developments and financial strategies.
  • Maintain data stores for renewable technologies, such as: project lists, company financials, asset transactions, tender announcements, and policy developments.
  • Evaluate the alignment of our data with official figures from regional sources such as: national energy balances, energy regulatory agency reports, and market operators.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple time zones and disciplines to leverage best practices and deliver according to project timelines.
  • Establish and maintain a robust renewable industry network.
  • Support automatization processes, data collection and quality control efforts.

    Qualifications

  • Proven analytical capabilities, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Demonstrated interest in data management and in the renewable/energy industry.
  • Excellent problem solving, documentation, communication and organization skills, and attention to detail.
  • An engaging nature, capable of connecting with co-workers, clients and industry stakeholders in a wide range of professional settings including giving presentations.
  • A deep intellectual curiosity about what drives markets based on economic principles.
  • Strong listening and critical thinking skills.
  • Fluency in English. Additional language skills, especially Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese, are a plus.
  • Comfortable working with common Excel functions and query languages.

  • Expectations

  • We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
  • Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones
