    The role – what is it we would like you to do

    Currie & Brown is currently looking for a health, safety and environment Manager for a new build data Centre project in JB, Malaysia. This role primarily involves carrying out monitoring and reporting of the site contractors, supporting the client in raising the standards of health and safety of the incumbent contractors, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge, enhancing their culture and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.

    Your core duties will involve:

    • Providing an independent review of the landlord's EHS plan (inclusive of emergency procedures), ensuring audit compliance, developing and issuing reports to the client, and tracking any corrective actions to closure
    • Verifying that the landlord has obtained all environmental permits, as required by law
    • Providing an independent, routine review of the landlord's high-risk activities (eg electrical safety, material handling, lifting, confined spaces, etc) during construction and providing feedback to the client on the performing authority's ability to manage these risks
    • Performing a review of the landlord's management process for assuring workers are properly trained and qualified for their tasks
    • Checking contractor permits to work
    • Providing an overall EHS condition assessment with observations for each site visit
    • Assisting the client in the tracking and assurance of corrective actions associated with EHS-related incidents
    • Ensuring that risks in the workplace are controlled and that the organisation is successfully meeting safety standards
    • Ensuring contractors' working practices are safe and comply with legislation
    • Developing the system and processes necessary from procurement/tendering through vetting, induction, permits, RAMS, etc to supervision, monitoring and de-brief
    • Providing suggestions and strategy for improvement and advising on health and safety initiatives
    • Creating KPIs for all the contractors and providing a monthly report

    What skills and attributes are we looking for from you

    • Certified HSE qualification or equivalent
    • A minimum of seven years' technical delivery experience gained within a global construction consultancy
    • Extensive experience of carrying out site audits and monitoring in the construction industry
    • Proficient in reviewing and commenting on RAMS, permit to work procedures
    • Experience of developing and running health and safety initiatives
    • Up-to-date knowledge of new legislation and a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation
    • Knowledge of a range of specialist areas, eg fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
    • Experience in providing training
    • Good technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills
    • Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined, and commercially astute
    • A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
    • Experience in data center is ideal.
