    Description
    Summary

    Chief Optometrist is responsible for overseeing the rendering of effective and efficient Optometry services to all customers in line with the organizationâs vision and mission. The incumbent is required to ensure excellent Optometry service delivery and quality assurance of the unit.
    • Being the main resource person by providing specialized clinical skills, support and consultation for anything related to the Optometry service.
    • Devising business plans for new relevant ophthalmic services as well as demonstrate operational knowledge and quality objectives of existing optometry procedures and therapy.
    • Being responsible for the coordination of the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of Optometry and departmental workflows.
    • Performing effective communication and collaboration with all parties involved to ensure the best clinical outcome for the patients.
    • Performing optometry services as per standard operating procedures and policies such as examining patientsâ eyes to detect signs of injury, disease, abnormality or vision defect.
    • Documenting patient history including complaints and relevant symptoms, ocular health, medication usage, medical and family history, current vision aide if applicable, and any other pertinent data.
    • Examining eyes using observation, and instruments to determine visual perception, acuity, coordination and focus.
    • Ensuring all charges are accurate and updated.
    • Conducting Purchase Requisitions in a responsible and ethical manner, with proper preparation of documentation and justification.
    • Liaising with other department teams and consultants concerning issues associated with patients.
    • Contributing to improvement of departmental performance and quality improvement activities of the department, addressing relevant and applicable customersâ feedback.
    • Maintaining professional and polite customer-based (patient-centred) approach at all the time in solving issues.
    • Ensuring all Annual Practicing Certificates (APCs) of own and of the team are up to date.
    • To support in the training of ophthalmic operations and activities to other staff.
    • Building the team towards achieving the Departmentâs goals and targets.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor Degree of Optometry
    • Valid Annual Practicing Certificate
    • Registered with Malaysian Optical Council
    • Minimum 3 years working experience in clinical eye industry as an Optometrist with some leadership/ team leader experience.
    • Good interpersonal skill
    • Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical competence required for the job. e.g. ability to translate complex technical or technological input for operation application.
