    Key Purpose of the Role

  • The role holder provides Consultancy, Design, Development, Integration and Support professional services at a technical level and is also responsible for the provision of technology & IT advice and services to both internal and external clients. The role is often project-based.The role holder is involved technically and professionally in the design of networks, services, systems architecture as well as the development and integration of overall solutions.
  • The role holder is also an individual who can build credibility among colleagues and customers with demonstrated capability to perform the tasks as defined by the Troubleshoot and Configuration profile.
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the technical configuration solution meets the customer service requirements for orders, which include separacy, diversity, COS and performance requirements.
  • Vet and Implement the agreed design for the customer order.
  • Responsible for specifying configuration requirements.
  • Responsible for building router and switch configurations, as a member of the EMEA/UKI Configuration team, to meet the customer's requirements.
  • Support test and turn-up
  • Perform all Configuration Engineering work according to established processes and workflows at the D1 level.
  • To assist performance monitoring and process management
  • To provide technology & IT advice and/or professional services to both internal and external clients.
  • To be included in the construction of the service solution and associated service delivery model to meet customer or Business Unit/LOB requirements
  • To modify or adapt existing designs but may also be involved in the design of systems architecture, networks systems and the development (including integration) of overall solutions.
  • To demonstrate competence in own area; may still be acquiring higher level skill; typically works with moderate guidance on own area of knowledge
  • May be involved in customer/client liaison and the discussion and agreement of specifications/solutions/designs.
  • To be involved in the application and execution of security policies
  • To input to cost/timescale solutions/options and manage expecations.
  • Participation in ORT`s – including preparation of configs and writing low level work instructions. Training colleagues on new products/services as a result of participation in ORT.
  • Standard responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the execution of configuration & troubleshooting activities demanded by the project to the approved standard, timescale and quality.
  • To communicate effectively with the project team on technical matters. Timely problem resolution associated with customer implementations
  • To produce outcomes that meets the project plans and programmes.
  • To work with local administration Team and either take or escalate required corrective actions.
  • To report effectively to the BT Team Manager
  • Interact effectively with the local administrator, Central Support Team, and other regional Configuration Teams.
  • To provide technical oversight for other team members where appropriate.
  • To assist less experienced members of the team, to ensure a 'right first time' approach is adopted.
  • To mentor less experienced team members, and to ensure all processes and procedures learnt during training are understood and implemented correctly, first time in the operational environment.
