    Assisting in the strategic and profitable growth of Affin Hwang Investment Bank's ('AHIBB') subsidiaries to undertake Private Equity ('PE') business activities via Commercial Fund and Proprietary Investments ('PI') in order to achieve the Group's long and short-term business objectives and to meet the needs of key stakeholders.

    Setting up of Private Equity Business

    • Assisting in the setting of the Private Equity business unit which includes the establishment of a Private Equity Management Company, private equity fund, operational framework, and policy.
    • Preparation of business plan and presentations to internal stakeholders ie Committees and Boards of AHIB and ABB Group.
    • Work closely with external advisors on submission documentation and liaising with relevant regulators in obtaining a license for the operation of the Private Equity business unit.

    Deal Sourcing and Evaluation

    • Identify and source potential investment opportunities through primary and secondary research, including analyzing market trends, evaluating industry reports, and interviewing industry experts and analysts.
    • Develop a pipeline of potential investments, and screen incoming deal opportunities.
    • Assess the potential returns and risks associated with each investment opportunity, considering factors such as market conditions, commercial and competitive landscape, business model, growth prospects, and regulatory environment.
    • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments to support investment decision-making, including commercial due diligence, legal due diligence (in consultation with due diligence solicitors where required) and financial due diligence (creating and maintaining detailed financial models, which entail cash flow projections, valuation models, and scenario analyses, with reference to the business model and historical financial performance).

    Transaction Structuring and Deal Execution

    • Work closely with legal and financial advisers (where required) to structure investment transactions, negotiating terms and conditions to align with the fund's investment strategy and objectives.
    • Analyse and optimise capital structures, ensuring that the terms of the investment are favourable and aligned with the fund's risk-return profile.
    • Lead the execution of investment transactions, coordinating with internal teams and external parties to ensure a smooth and timely closing process.
    • Oversee the preparation of investment proposals, outlining the rationale behind investment decisions, and addressing key considerations to be presented to the investment committee for final approval.
    • Manage the preparation and review of transaction documents, including term sheets, purchase agreements, and financing arrangements, to protect the interests of the fund and limited partners.

    Portfolio Management

    • Oversee, manage, and monitor the performance of portfolio companies, and identify opportunities for value creation.
    • Formulate and implement strategies to enhance the operational and financial performance of portfolio companies, working closely with management teams to drive growth and efficiency.
    • Stay updated on market trends, economic indicators, and industry developments to make informed investment decisions and identify factors that may impact the risk profile of investments.
    • Implement risk management processes to monitor and manage portfolio risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Develop and execute exit strategies for portfolio investments, whether through IPOs, mergers, acquisitions, or other liquidity events, to maximise returns to the fund.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the board of directors and senior management of the fund, limited partners, professionals, regulators, and other stakeholders.
    • Communicate effectively with limited partners, providing regular updates on fund performance, investment strategies, and market trends.
    • Collaborate with portfolio company management teams to facilitate a smooth transition post-acquisition and ensure the effective implementation of value-creation strategies.
    • Assist in training and development of the team.

    Job Requirements

    • Minimum 8 years in strategy consulting, management consulting or proven track record in business development/management
    • Minimum a Degree holder, preferably in the Investment field.
    • Experience in Financial Services (Investment Banking & Securities) is highly preferred
    • A base level of knowledge across business strategy, finance, marketing, operations, and data analytics
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Leadership and project management skills, with the ability to maintain presence and composure when interacting with senior management
    • Willingness and ability to take initiative and learn independently
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
