Project: Construction of Roads and Infrastructure at Um-Alhoul Special Economic Zone QEZ-3 

Scope of Project: Build only/ Conventional Contract, Construction of 12 nos. distribution substations, street lighting, SCADA, traffic signal system, ductbanks and all associated MEP activities.

Client: Manateq/ Egis International

Position: MEP Site Engineer

  • Involve with Construction, Testing and Commissioning, and Quality Control of Electrical, SCADA, and traffic signal system of the project comprising of duct bank construction, electrical 11 kV switchgear, transformer, MV & LV underground cable laying, fiber optic cable installation, street lighting, final fix installations, and traffic signal system.
  • Work with QA/QC Department, HSE team, and Subcontractors to ensure work is performed in accordance with the Project Specifications.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors on technical submissions, providing technical review and support at all phases of the project. 
  • Preparation and submission of technical documents for consultant/ Engineer approval such as Pre-qualification document, Material submittal, Method Statement, ITPs, operation and maintenance manual for electrical, SCADA, and traffic signal systems.
  • Coordinate site inspections with the subcontractor and also with site based Client representatives and PMCM site engineer.
  • Perform inspection and supervision of MEP installations and testing activities carried out on the Construction sites in accordance with approved ITP inspection control points, method statement and project specifications. Make sure that system installations meet standards of quality as per project specifications, HSE requirements, applicable documents and best industry practice (from materials used at site to final installation). 
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Test (Test) for MV and LV cables at the manufacturer plant.

Project: Modernisation of Brunei International Airport Terminal 

Scope of Project: Design and Build Contract, Renovation of the existing departure terminal and construction of a new main terminal arrival hall building with MEP, ELV and Airport systems.

Client: Changi Airport Consultants (CAC)-AECOM 

Position: M&E Assistant Resident Engineer, 

  • Involve with Quality Control of Mechanical, Electrical, and Airport system installations of the airport comprising of air conditioning, mechanical ventilation, sanitary and cold water plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, lighting, small power, earthing and lightning protection, smoke spill control system, baggage handling system, lift and escalator, telecommunication, public address system, network, CCTV, access control, Flight information display system (FIDS), and master clock system. 
  • Assist the Site QC Manager (Resident Engineer) in the organisation, maintenance and control of the quality system.
  • Coordinate all site inspections with the site subcontractors.
  • Liaise with site construction engineers and provide assistance when requested.
  • Perform inspection and supervision of MEP installations and testing activities carried out on the Construction sites and/or Contractor's workshop in accordance with approved Contractors ITP inspection points and related documents. Make sure that MEP system installations meet standards of quality as per project specification, HSE requirements, applicable documents and best industry practice (from materials used at site to final installation). 
  • Involved in testing and commissioning of MEP systems such as Airconditioning and Mechanical Ventilation System (AHUs, FCUs), Passenger Boarding Bridges, Electrical Low Voltage System (diesel generator, subswitchboards, distribution boards), Building Automation System, Fire Protection System, Extra Low Voltage (ELV-network, public address, telephone) systems.
  • Ensure that all inspection reports are accurate and that all attached documents are current status.
  • Ensure all work is correctly prepared prior to any inspection being undertaken
  • Review all inspection reports for compliance and coordinate inconsistencies of test results with site construction team and subcontractors.
  • Review work procedures and method statements for compliance with good work practices and the contract requirement/ specifications.
  • Report back to the Resident Engineer and construction manager regarding quality issues such as rejected site installations, site and design discrepancies, inconsistent test results, etc.   
  • Preparing QC site instructions and non-conformance report (NCRs) and assist in developing corrective actions for their completion and closure.
  • Interfacing on inspection activities with site based Client representatives.
  • Defective works: identify, monitor and re-inspect works with quality issues to ensure that project is completed within deadline without delay.
  • Monitor critical testing equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
  • Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures and checklists.
  • Ensure quality records, acceptance certificates, mechanical completion certificates and documentation for MEP systems of the project are prepared and compiled in accordance to requirements.
  • Verify as-built drawings for As-Built handover documentation.
  • Provide progress information to Quality Assurance team and Planning and Scheduling department regarding testing and punchlist works for incorporation into project reports.

Employer: Sky Oryx Joint Venture (SOJV): Taisei-TAV

Project: New Doha International Airport (NDIA), Passenger Terminal Complex (CP-18), Doha, Qatar 

Scope of Project: Build Only Conventional Contract, New Passenger Terminal Complex Building comprising of Main Terminal Building and Concourses A, B, and C. 

Client: NDIA, Overseas Bechtel Inc (OBI), Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK) 

Position: MEP Coordination Engineer

  • Coordinate MEP works for Concourse A, B, and Incoming Baggage Facility (IBF) areas of the Passenger Terminal Complex. Liaise with MEP subcontractors, Civil Construction Department and Design Shop Drawing Department regarding MEP matters/ works. 
    • Attend meetings with Designer, raise construction technical inquiry (CTI) and Field Change Request (FCR) due MEP related design issues and site implementation problems. 
    • Draft Main Contractor Instruction (MCI) to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) subcontractors in order to proceed according to coordinated drawings, CTI resolution and Change order from Client. 
    • Involve in delivery process of the project (MEP works). Handle Final Turnover Document (FTD) submissions which include as-built drawings, issue for construction (IFC) red-line drawings, engineering documents such as material submittals, material samples, technical reports, technical procedures and method of statement. Monitor subcontractor’s as-built shop drawing progress together with engineering documents to ensure target dates are met. 
    • Review as-built drawings prior to submittal to Engineer (OBI).
