About Jeffrey Tang:
Geologist working in oil and gas
Experience
I am a highly skilled geologist with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. With over four years of industry experience, I have successfully led teams and managed projects in various geological settings, including Sarawak, Thailand, and West Malaysia. My expertise includes real-time monitoring and analysis of drilling data, reservoir and seal analysis, static and dynamic modeling, and risk assessment.
As a Mudlogger Geologist/Field Engineer at Geolog International, I have been responsible for analyzing drill cuttings and gas readings to evaluate the lithology and hydrocarbon potential of subsurface formations. I have also played a key role in geomechanics modeling projects focusing on CO2 storage potential in depleted oil and gas fields.
At Ryobi Geotechnique International Pte Ltd, I served as a Project Engineer CUM Geologist, where I planned and managed projects, conducted site investigations, and performed soil sampling and borehole drilling. My work included developing project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensuring compliance with project management governance and corporate policies.
Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong ability to integrate geological data into subsurface models, perform early kick and mud loss detection, and communicate effectively with clients to provide updates on drilling progress and results. My passion for environmental sustainability and advanced geologic modeling drives my commitment to contributing to innovative and effective CCS solutions.
Education
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geology from Curtin University in Miri, Sarawak, with a focus on petroleum reservoir studies in the Sarawak Basin. Graduating in November 2018, my academic training provided a solid foundation in geological principles, reservoir characterization, and the dynamics of subsurface formations. My education equipped me with essential skills in seismic interpretation, static and dynamic modeling, and hydrocarbon reservoir characterization, all of which have been instrumental in my professional career in the oil and gas industry and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects.
