About Karen McClymont:
With 30+ years of international leadership roles and start-up projects predominantly in Africa and Asia (10+ years in the APAC region), in the international education and transformative fieldwork environment. I am strategically positioned to offer experience, innovation, agility and empowerment to the position.
I am a British citizen and hold an education degree from the UK (BAEd) and have an international education leadership as well as education training background. As such I have a proven track record in K-12 School Start-Up Projects, Risk Assessment, Strategic Planning & Future/Solution-Focused Decision-Making, Teacher and School Leadership Team Training Facilitation, School Improvement, Teacher Observations & ongoing Professional Support and Enhancement, Change Management, Policy Design and Implementation, as well as provision of quality Monitoring & Evaluation of data, programmes and outcomes analysis, nurturing Education Vision and Ethos towards developing school culture, relationships, and Stakeholder Vision, I am well situated to support agility, growth, mental strength and capacity enhancement as well as enrichment towards excellent teaching and learning standards in a local and global cultural context.
In addition, I am a Credentialed ICF [International Coaching Federation] Professional Leadership Coach (PCC) and a certified therapist and can therefore support any education leadership role with not only a high standard of professional development via coaching and training facilitation, but can support mental health, agility, and resilience among leadership, staff, students and all stakeholders towards teaching and learning excellence and retention of staff.
Having worked with various sized teams with varied local and international dynamics, I have a record of strong relationship and rapport building, clarity of communications in face to face, online or media formats, developing cohesive learning communities, pastoral care, bringing out the best innovation and creativity from individuals and team members, recognizing and empowering next generation leaders through talent development, ongoing developmental appraisal processes, a strong coaching culture, as well as transparent stakeholder engagement. In addition, I am passionate and skilled in marketing and PR to ensure the school's ongoing presence within the community and further afield.
Through my work in school start up projects and education transformation fieldwork across local school leadership teams, and across education districts in the APAC region, I am well versed in working flexibly across contexts, religions and cultures, being culturally, ethnically and religiously sensitive where required and in core ethics of DEIJ (Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Justice).
I am well versed in working in a VUCA environment and possess the capacity to work resiliently, with agility and empowerment to others and to myself as a self-starter and self-motivator.
Schools I have headed have had enriching co-curricular and inter-house programmes, balancing individual and team development, thus that a student's profile is maximized in readiness for future applications to tertiary education.
I look forward to hopefully being a good fit for meeting the requirements you are looking for and would enjoy the challenge of contributing to and enhancing the standards and quality assurance within the context of working within your fine establishment.
Experience
My background predominantly includes international K-12 school settings, with a tendency towards school start-up and school improvement projects. Though beginning in the UK, my experience has broadly been primarily in Africa and Asia, specifically Egypt, Nigeria, and Malaysia.
In addition to leading in international settings, I have also brought success to school transformation fieldwork projects, working with local school leadership teams, teachers and later with District Education Officers through coaching, training and strategic support through collaborative schools and district projects between LeapEd Services and the Ministry of Education in Malaysia.
