    Non-CO2 gases account for nearly half of all global warming from human activity since 1970. Our work, referred to as âemergency brake solutionsâ by , is essential to prevent catastrophic climate change. Our projects include the destruction of refrigerants and halon fire suppressants that are potent greenhouse gases and deplete the ozone layer. We also find, measure, and plug orphaned oil and gas wells that have no solvent operator and are leaking methane into the atmosphere. To date, we have permanently prevented over 6.9 million tons of CO2e from reaching the atmosphere and we are on a path to surpass 27 million tons of CO2e by the end of 2027.

    The Opportunity

    To support its growth around the world, Tradewater is seeking a Projects and New Developments Associate to support the exploration and development of work in new countries globally. This position is key to developing projects around the world and scaling our impact by focusing on feasibility assessments of new countries as locations for refrigerant collection and destruction projects. It is a position designed for someone eager to grow professionally in a mission-driven environment. The work can be performed remotely, with a preference for candidates located in UTC to UTC+4 time zones to include MENA countries. The position will report to our Manager of Projects and New Developments.

    While Tradewater is based in Chicago, we have offices and team members around the world. This position is primarily remote, however candidates must be available, able and willing to travel according to the requirements listed below, including internationally as needed.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Lead feasibility assessments for new countries as potential locations for refrigerant collection and destruction projects.
    • Review and analyze regulations governing ozone-depleting substance management and hazardous waste handling in relevant countries.
    • Assist the Projects and New Developments team with administrative tasks, including CRM database management and project documentation updates.
    • Maintain detailed records of exploration activities in line with Tradewater's guidelines and prepare regular reports and expansion strategies based on findings.
    • Manage inventories, invoices, and other project-related documentation.
    • Support project planning, operations, and budgeting.
    • Research and build maps of key stakeholders in sectors that work with ozone-depleting refrigerants and halons (ODS) and handle waste in countries under exploration.
    • Develop databases and lists of contacts and other relationships needed to conduct exploration activities.
    • Initiate outreach activities searching for ODS in exploration countries. This includes but is not limited to sending emails, making cold calls, and implementing other searching strategies used by Tradewater.
    • Review and analyze regulations applicable to ODS management and hazardous waste handling in applicable countries.
    • Support other members of Tradewaterâs International Halocarbon Department as they develop projects and programs around the globe, including conducting research, finding and contacting suppliers, and following up with stakeholders.
    • Support the Projects and New Developments team with other administrative and operative tasks as needed, such as maintaining accurate information in our CRM database and updating relevant projectsâ documents.
    • Keep detailed and complete records of all information collected during exploration activities and consistent with Tradewaterâs guidelines.
    • Prepare regular reports on all findings and propose strategies for expansion based upon exploration activities completed.

    Requirements:

    • Academic background in Business, Global Business, Environmental Science, International Relations or related fields with at least 2-3 years of experience with project management.
    • Demonstrated skills or experience conducting research, engaging and/or negotiating with stakeholders, and organizing and presenting information.
    • Strong English language skills are required, and Arabic and Arabic Dialects are preferred.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to travel internationally as needed

    • Capacity to synthesize information in a clear and well-organized manner.
