    Description

    YOUR ROLE

    As a Platform Engineering Lead, you'll be responsible for the design and development of the high-level software and product specifications and determining technical standards, including software coding standards, tools and platforms. You'll work with engineers and other team members to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new and current software applications, using tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired product. More particularly, this role defines all aspects of development including appropriate technology and workflow and coding standards.

    • Serve as the cross-product architect for the software & cloud security domain in areas such as Software design, Cloud architecture, Scalability, Data Modeling, Cloud Security, etc
    • Provide technical leadership and drive key architectural decisions and design considerations with regards to secure software development and scalable architectural/solution designs.
    • Review Technical Specifications and drive a culture of best development practices
    • Mentor development teams globally (i.e. demonstrate good and secure coding practices and help them architect code).
    • Participate in application and cloud/edge infrastructure projects to provide security-planning guidance and governance.
    • Coordinate with DevOps teams to advocate secure coding practices.
    • Contribute to and promote good software engineering practices across the team.
    • Maintain deep knowledge of system, security threats and vulnerabilities across product portfolio and help drive remediation and resolution of potential high profile/critical system issues and security vulnerabilities.
    • Collaborate with software and system engineers, explore available technologies and propose solution options.
    • Work with data scientists and computer vision engineers to develop and deploy data and machine learning models.
    • Manage system configuration, procedures, development, and implementation of new enhancement.

    WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; experience in IoT highly preferred.
    • Min. 8 years of application development experience, with at least 2 in a senior role.
    • Solid experience in AWS platform architecture and development required
    • Experience in developing large scale business critical applications on AWS cloud platform.
    • Strong skills in real time communication protocols such as websockets/ MQTT/ RESTful API/ GraphQL.
    • Familiarity with database scaling (SQL and NoSQL), service scaling and backend architecture design
    • Previous working experience with a variety of teams including: DevOps, IoT system operations, database, network engineering, and software engineering teams an advantage.
    • Knowledge in Python, Django, JavaScript, JSON, HTML, RDS, React.JS, Golang an asset
    • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to both internal technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience in shipping an end-to-end (IoT) product and understanding of develop ing high-quality software in hardware/software product environment.
    • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (jenkins/docker/chef/ansible).
    • Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, open source projects, and public cloud offerings.
    • Great-to-have skills & knowledge: Micro service development (e.g. Docker Containers), CI/CD pipelines within a DevOps environment, common product development tools for sprint planning (JIRA, etc.), road maps, analytics, and tracking, etc., mobile app development experience.
