- Develop, maintain, and communicate Shariah risk policies and procedures to guide employees in adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Integrate the processes to identify inherent Shariah non-compliance risk exposures in the business operations and activities of the Bank, as part of the enterprise-wide risk management.
- Develop appropriate internal controls framework to address the SNC exposure to facilitate efficient and effective management of SNC risks
- Facilitate introduction of new controls to better mitigate Shariah non-compliance risk.
- Assess Shariah non-compliance risk and measure the potential impact of the risk exposures to the bank and integrate Shariah non-compliance risk considerations with enterprise-wide risk management.
- Plan and conduct Shariah non-compliance (SNC) risk exposure assessment
- Monitor Shariah non-compliance risk exposures and effectiveness of the risk mitigation measures and perform review of Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) & Key Control Testing (KCT) exercise, monitoring Bank-Wide Key Risk Indicator (KRI) and Loss Event Reporting (LER) related to SNC risks
- Monitor Shariah non-compliance risk exposures and effectiveness of the risk mitigation measures
- Continuous monitoring of risk profiles and controls effectiveness to facilitate efficient and effective management of Shariah non-compliance risk
- Provide timely and independent reporting and escalation of SNC risk exposures
- Constructively challenge decisions of business and support units that may give rise to Shariah non-compliance risks
- Ensure timely reporting of SNC risk exposure to the Shariah Committee, management committee and the Board
- Evaluate new products and services are in line with Shariah requirements
- Facilitate risk assessment and control effectiveness assessment for new products or services
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective risk assessment of new products and services.
- Ensure the completion of documentation for new processes related to new products or variation
- Lead and manage new product or variation assessment
- Minimum of years of work experience in Islamic banking and Finance, risk management or relevant discipline.
- Relevant academic studies and have the requisite knowledge on Shariah requirements applicable to Islamic financial business.
- Effective communication and possess writing skills with clarity
- Professional and interpersonal skills to establish good rapport and working relationship with stakeholders
- Able to work independently, be proactive, able to prioritize and operate under tight deadlines
