    About Our Client

    Our client is a leading financial institution headquartered in Asia, with a strong presence in Southeast Asia. Known for its commitment to digital innovation, they offer a range of banking services and products, aiming to provide convenient and accessible financial solutions to its customers.

    They are looking for a Director, Sustainable Finance, within the Wholesale Banking division to lead and implement sustainable finance strategies and initiatives to align with the organization's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.

    Job Description

    This role:

    • Develop and execute the sustainable finance strategy for the Wholesale Banking division across ASEAN region, in alignment with the organization's overall ESG objectives.
    • Focus on leading the growth of Green, Social, Sustainable, Transition Finance business, shaping the Wholesale portfolio to meet their NetZero Pathways in key sectors.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, build capabilities within the frontlines, pushing the envelope with newer capabilities such as Carbon Trading, Blended Finance, Sustainability Advisory, etc.
    • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, industry partners, NGOs, and regulatory bodies, to stay abreast of sustainability trends and best practices.
    • Provide thought leadership on sustainable finance topics, both internally and externally, through presentations, articles, and industry conferences.
    • Monitor and report on the performance of sustainable finance initiatives, including impact metrics and financial returns, to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and standards related to sustainable finance, including ESG reporting and disclosure frameworks.
    • Lead and mentor a team of sustainable finance professionals, providing guidance and support to drive success in achieving departmental goals.

    The Successful Applicant

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, environmental studies, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MSc) preferred.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in banking, finance, or sustainability roles, with a focus on sustainable finance and ESG integration at least for the last 3 years.
    • Strong understanding of financial markets, products, and services, with expertise in sustainable finance principles and practices.
    • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing sustainable finance strategies and initiatives, preferably within a wholesale banking environment.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across different functions and levels of the organization.
    • Knowledge of relevant ESG frameworks and standards (e.g., UN Principles for Responsible Banking, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)) is highly desirable.
    • Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and driving change in a complex organizational setting.
