Being an educator and inspire students who are having difficulty to understand Mathematics has been my passion since the day I was inspired by my teacher. I want to help everyone to conquer their fears towards numbers. I want to change their perspective that Mathematics is not a subject to be afraid or to be neglect but rather to use it as a weapon to be better in the future. 

I’ve been teaching for more than 10 years and one thing that students are asking me is “why Mathematics?”. They were thinking that the subject is hard and very difficult to understand. But I always tell them that Mathematics is consider a skill. When you want something, you need to practice more to understand how it works like driving. The more you use Mathematics, or the more you practice yourself to do problems in Mathematics, then you understand it better. 

From 3 different International Schools and from 4 different countries, I experienced different student’s attitude towards Mathematics, and I always tell myself that giving up to them is not my main goal but to let them know that I am here to help them until they understand the concept of the lesson. 

Being a teacher for all year level, I find it interesting to see how the students grow to their own field. To see how they develop their skills towards Mathematics. I always believe that it is not me but its them who fight for their battle in the subject. I am just here to guide them and help them to develop the skills they have to conquer their fears in Mathematics.

I will be a good asset for the school because of the experiences and knowledge that I have been over the years but still willing to improve more for the benefits of the students. As a Mathematics teacher, I enjoy extracurricular activities such as paper folding, maths puzzle, movie review, homework club and trainer for Mathematics Olympiad competition. 

             My name is Ferdinand G. Pailanan from Manila, Philippines. I’m applying to your prestigious school as a Secondary Mathematics Teacher (with IGCSE curriculum and IB Program). I am currently employed as MYP and DP Mathematics Teacher in UCSI International School, Springhill Malaysia. I started working last August 12, 2020. I learned a lot of new things with the new curriculum that I am teaching since I have my experience in IGCSE curriculum only. It is really good because I open myself to be flexible and know more method in teaching. IB Programme is different from IGCSE curriculum in so many points of view which is really interesting. Teaching Mathematics for both MYP and DP students. 

           Secondary Mathematics Teacher in Matrix Global Schools, Seremban, Malaysia. I started my work last September 19, 2018 and end my contract on August 12, 2020. I am very passionate in teaching Mathematics subject for secondary because I find it interesting like what I want for my students. I have year 07 teaching the basic part of Algebra, Geometry and others. Year 08 where more critical and analysis problems involved and the Year 10 where we need to focus on IGCSE problem solving type. Also I have the Year 10 elective class of Additional Mathematics.

           I also worked in Anglo Singapore International School, Bangkok, Thailand as a Secondary Mathematics Teacher from October 5, 2015 until June 30, 2018. I taught Sec 1 and 2 students in their Mathematics lesson. Also, I support the teachers for upper secondary (Sec 3 and Sec 4). As a support teacher, my job is to help the main teacher to discuss or explain the lesson to the class. If the teacher cannot explain the lesson to the students properly, then I’m the one who discuss it on the board. With my experience in IGCSE Examination, I can apply some theory and strategy to them so that they can understand the concept of the lesson properly.

           In Bina Bangsa School, Semarang Indonesia as a Secondary Mathematics Teacher from July 14, 2014 until June 26, 2015, following the Cambridge Curriculum. I taught Secondary 4 (IGCSE Examination for Elementary and Additional Maths) Secondary 3 (Elementary and Additional Maths) and Sec 2 Accelerated. Being a Form Class Teacher of Sec4 graduating students, I need to complete all the pertinent documents needed by the students individually. 

          Five years from  Carlos P. Garcia High School fa government school in the Philippines as a Secondary Mathematics teacher from October 20, 2009 – June 25, 2014. I also worked in Colegio de Sta. Margarita in Mathematics High School Department from June 13, 2007 – March 31, 2009.

           I will be an asset to your school because I believe I have more than enough experience as an educator but I’m still willing to learn more. I want to grow my experience with your school and the things that it can offer. I can do multi-tasking and anything that my profession asks me to do so. I’m looking forward to your response and I hope to be part of your school employee.

 I gained 18 units of my Master Degree major in Mathematics in University of the Philippines, Diliman. Graduated at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. I took Professional Education (18 units) in Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology.
