    Description

    JOB PURPOSE:

    To support and assist the Head of Islamic Market Unit through development of Shariah-compliant exchange-traded securities and other alternative products, as well as development of Shariah-compliant infrastructure and services to facilitate the Islamic capital market ecosystem, improve market access and liquidity and attract market participants.

    This is in line with the organisation's strategic direction to make Bursa Malaysia the leading global exchange for Islamic fundraising, hedging and investing by expanding our range of Shariah-compliant products and introducing new innovations that will cement our leadership position in this segment.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Assist in the development of new and innovative Shariah-compliant exchange traded securities and other alternative products and services

    Main tasks/ activities:

    a) Assist in preparing proposal for new product pipeline for development and implementation.

    b) Facilitate the engagement and collaboration with relevant product issuers and identify project needs and requirements, expectations, timeline, etc.

    c) Facilitate in the collaboration with product issuers for development and manufacturing of Shariah-compliant products and services.

    d) Help identify, strategise and collaborate with market intermediaries and product distributors to facilitate market access, intermediation and product distribution.

    e) Engage with internal stakeholders for any process, operational, infrastructure and ecosystem changes and enhancement, as well as regulators and other relevant authorities including Shariah bodies for Shariah principles and compliance related matters vis-à-vis product and service development review, approval and launch.

    f) Engage and build relationship with external stakeholders i.e. buy-side in the likes Government-linked Investment Companies, fund management companies with Islamic mandate and foreign fund managers to get buy-in and support for existing and newly developed Shariah-compliant and SRI products and services.

    g) Facilitate in the product development activities, which include project management, monitoring and reporting.

    h) Help develop marketing strategy, plan and execute marketing and awareness and promotion activities for newly launched products and services, including public relations matters, mass media advertising and promotion and marketing campaigns.

    i) Build network and manage relationship with relevant internal and key external stakeholders to facilitate the product development processes.

    2. Assist in the enhancement and development of new market infrastructure for Shariah-compliant products and services to facilitate a comprehensive ecosystem and attract greater market participation and improve liquidity

    Main tasks/ activities:

    a) Undertake research, identify and analyse the outcomes of the research for market infrastructure enhancement and development ideation.

    b) Help identify and propose any auxiliary system and infrastructure changes to facilitate the ideation.

    c) Assist in socialising the ideation and obtain consultation and feedback with internal and external stakeholders.

    d) Identify project needs and requirements, expectations, timeline, etc. and develop proposal for development and implementation.

    e) Facilitate the development stage, which include project management, monitoring and reporting.

    f) Build rapport and manage relationship with relevant internal and key external stakeholders to facilitate the market infrastructure development and enhancement.

    3. Facilitate ecosystem enhancement and development to support inter alia market access and connectivity, intermediation capability and distribution channels to attract greater market participation and improve liquidity

    Main tasks/ activities:

    a) Help identify and propose ideation in relation to the enhancement and development of ecosystem, which include among others market access and connectivity, and intermediation and distribution capability.

    b) Assist in socialising the ideation and obtain consultation and feedback with internal and external stakeholders.

    c) Help identify relevant industry partners and stakeholders (e.g. market intermediaries and product distributors) and create synergy to support and collaborate in the enhancement and development of the ecosystem, and to facilitate market access, intermediation and product distribution.

    d) Facilitate engagement with internal stakeholders for any process, operational, infrastructure and ecosystem changes and enhancement, as well as regulators and other relevant authorities including Shariah bodies for Shariah principles and compliance related matters during the development stage until launch.

    e) Facilitate the development stage, which include project management, monitoring and reporting.

    f) Facilitate in the development and enhancement of guidelines and best practices as part of the ecosystem to support the Shariah-compliant products and services in line with Shariah concepts and rulings issued by the Shariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission Malaysia and the Shariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia.

    4. Attend to various matters pertaining to Islamic Market Unit and Product & Market Development Department

    Main tasks/ activities:

    a) Conduct research and analysis on Islamic finance, Islamic capital market, Shariah-compliant products and services, and Islamic capital market potential markets and segments.

    b) Prepare presentation slides and facilitate in providing presentation on Shariah-compliant capital market products and services to various stakeholders.

    c) Prepare yearly department budget and monitor utilsation on quarterly basis to ensure maximum utilisation of requested budget.

    d) To support the other product development activities of the Unit and Department.

    e) To support the other infrastructure and market development activities of the Unit and Department.

    f) Assist in any other Product & Market Development functions and special tasks on ad-hoc basis as required by the Head of Islamic Market Unit.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 6 years relevant working experience, with minimum 4 years of experience in financial services industry, preferably in Islamic Finance/ Banking.
    • Bachelor degree in Finance, Business Administration, Islamic Finance, Banking, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Economics or equivalent, or a combination of qualification(s) with relevant working experience.
    • A relevant post graduate qualification would be an advantage.
    • Marketing and communications skills
    • Knowledge in Shariah-compliant products and services
    • Excellent command of English and Malay, both written and spoken
    • Positive attitude and mental aptitude with strong interpersonal skills
    • Dynamic, action and result-oriented
