    Description

    Key Responsibilities:

    Responsible for ensuring that the operational processes are effectively managed as per approved operational risk policies and procedures. The position is required to manage operational risk through regular assessment and analysis of operational risk throughout the Bank.

    • Review of operational risk reports and undertake to identify weaknesses in processes, systems, and people and recommend measures to improve loss events.
    • Review existing and new policies to cover all operational risk issues.
    • Review, and where necessary, enhance existing policies, procedures and guidelines which relate to operational risk functions.
    • Develop and implement operational risk policies and risk management strategies for effective governance to meet the bank's goal.
    • Review and comment on proposal papers on new products and services to ensure risk issues have been addresses and mitigated.
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly operational risk reports for Management and Board.
    • Conduct training/awareness programs to Regional Compliance and Risk Officers and Designated Compliance and Risk Officers on various operational risk matters.
    • Act as a Designated Compliance and Risk Officer for Risk Management Division.
    • Participate in business related and risk management initiatives.
    • Any other tasks assigned by the CRO from time to time.

    Scope of Responsibilities

    • Monitor, assess and advise on the operational risk activities in the bank.
    • Provide timely and accurate reports and meaningful analysis on risk positions to enable the Management and Board to make informed decisions.
    • Develop, implement and execute policies and strategies for better management of operational risk across the bank.
    • To set controls as well as provide appropriate structure to manage operational risk within the Bank.
    • Establish, communicate and facilitate the use of appropriate operational risk management infrastructure.
    • Review and where necessary, enhance operational risk policies encompassing processes and systems
    • Ensure compliance with operational risk related regulatory requirements.
    • Carry out any ad-hoc assignments assigned by the CRO/ Management/ Board from time to time.

    Qualifications:

    • A recognized degree in Business Administration/ Accounting/ Banking or in any related field
    • At least 6 years of relevant experience in risk management within the banking industry.
    • Good interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of peoples
    • Able to work independently as well as a good team player
    • Strategic thinking and effective analysis of data
    • Sound business and financial judgment, and problem-solving skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
    • Ability to organize and motivate individuals at various levels
    • Knowledge on overall key operational risks inherent in a financial institution, including Shariah risk;
    • Well versed with regulatory environment for banks
    • Understanding/ knowledge of governance practices, internal control systems and ability to monitor risk management activities/ programmes (and implementation thereof)
    • Knowledge on enterprise risk management concepts, frameworks and methods
    • Understanding of processes and core management activities in financial institutions
