    About the Department

    UOBM Internal Audit (IA)'s mission is to be an independent and effective audit and risk review function, working in partnership with businesses to support the Bank's goals. IA embarked on transformation journey that is enabled by the adoption of advanced technology tools and Data Analytics (DA). DA enables IA to develop useful and actionable audit insights into business risks.

    Strategic Management & Professional Practice (SMPP) is one of the important function in the bank's Internal Audit Department. It covers the audit practices, conformance to IIA standards, championing best practice in audit governance, developing audit plan, keeping Audit Committee (AC) apprised on the state of the bank's internal controls and regularly reporting audit related matters to Management and Group Audit.

    In addition, SMPP regularly engages regulator (BNM) to provide informative audit update to BNM and obtain feedback to help refine its focus, strategy and assurance approach so as to meet regulator's expectation. Also, SMPP ensures IA function identifies appropriate audit universe and robust risk coverage including all regulatory required scope. For this role, we are specifically looking for candidate with past regulatory experience.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures effective implementation of Internal Audit framework in accordance with Group Audit standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Plans and manages the internal quality assurance review of IA function.
  • Delivers high quality and concise audit / management reports as well as presentations materials to the Board, Audit Committee, senior management and relevant authorities.
  • Actively participates in the development of the audit plan, ensure adequate and robust risk coverage including all regulatory required scope.
  • Monitors the achievement of audit plan and rectification status of audit issues.
  • Implements onboarding program for new IA joiners and coordinate training courses for IA staff.
  • Liaison for external parties such as regulators and external auditor – provides informative update to regulators on audit related matters.

  • Possesses a recognized degree or professional qualification in related field
  • Has over 8 years of relevant work experience and well verse with regulatory related matters.
  • Has strong understanding and knowledge of risk and controls, corporate governance and internal audit related regulations and guidelines.
  • Displays significant subject matter expertise in audit practices.
  • Has sound judgement and is sensitive to culture of diversity.
  • Has strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Well verse with Microsoft Power-Point and data visualization tools for presentation materials to Audit Committee/senior management as well as for data analysis work.
